Working alongside local communities and Forest Monitors, our teams deepened their understanding of how biodiversity is monitored, how conservation impact is measured, and how technology can support community-led conservation.
February 2026
WildMon and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) begin a shared journey in Gombe, Tanzania.
As a result of our collaboration in early 2026, and based on the principles of the Tacare framework, the teams undertook an intensive task to design a 10-year roadmap to strengthen biodiversity monitoring and conservation outcomes in Gombe and in Tanzania.

The partnership is solidified at Love Tomorrow.
Integrating with existing JGI projects, the local community will deploy monitoring technologies like ecoacousitc recorders and camera traps. This will create a robust data collection system to then be analyzed by AI and provide insights on the state of biodiversity and effectiveness conservation initiatives.
2027 - 2030
Phase 1: Establishing an Ecological Baseline in Gombe and the Nyota Corrido
The partnership between WildMon and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) is a multi-phase initiative to integrate biodiversity monitoring into community-led conservation across Tanzania. By combining AI-powered technologies with JGI's Tacare framework, the program enables local communities to generate the data needed to understand biodiversity, measure conservation impact, and guide more informed decisions for the long-term protection of nature.
